Artist's Comments

Following my project of painting images that impressed me as a wee youngster ... here's a Warhammer 40k peice. My main concerns were composition, atmosphere, and telling a story. The horizontal format was for a cinematic feel. I wanted to go for something a little more contemplative then the usual 40K blast fest. In this case, the aftermath.

Extreme, my man, very good. I'm familiar with the Warhammer 40k Universe for some time now, and I can tell a story from that image. It's really nice man, honest.

Thanks for the kind words, guys!

Incidently, if anyone's interested there's a simple tutorial outlining the stages of this painting on my long lost blog.

Amazing work, your background is truly stunning. I love the lighting and the marine, even if he is grossly out of proportion. I also love your smoke and clouds, I struggle with them.

It is said that in Ulthar, which lies beyond the river Skai, no man may kill a cat; and this I can verily believe as I gaze upon him who sitteth purring before the fire. For the cat is cryptic, and close to strange things which men cannot see.
